Brand Loyalty

June 29, 2011

I am not one to become a brand loyalist let alone a brand evangelist. And I do not believe that I am at the evangelist level… However, my experiences with Apple as of late makes me believe in loyalty.
I have an iPhone. I resisted the iPhone for quite a period of time and in many cases I went against the grain and chose not to get it specifically because of the cult culture and following. However, I wanted an iPhone for the fun of it. To play games, to take photos, to capture moments, to bank on the fly, to read books and to have an all-in-one device that allowed me to listen to my music, write an email, text a friend, send a photo and make a call.
Well… I got said iPhone on Valentine’s Day 2011. I was thrilled and overjoyed to have such a fun gadget… Unfortunately, Sunday night turned disastrous when my iPhone fell in the sink while washing dishes. GASP, fear, sadness and then JOY. The phone remained in working order… Well, the entire phone except for the camera. The camera, wait, wasn’t that why I got the dang thing? So, I spoke to some friends and got some advice and Monday Avery and I journeyed to the Apple Store at the Scottsdale Quarter. The water had dried up and the camera was blurry… The lovely fella took the phone to the back, switched out the camera and replaced the back of the phone. The camera was back in perfect working order in less than 30 minutes at no charge.
Evangelist, NO. Loyalist, YES. Quite pleased with the customer service. I give Apple two thumbs up.
