It’s time… Time to start redecorating my family room. The furniture is old and the room doesn’t feel cozy. It is time for me to start fresh; clean up the decor, simplify the space, reduce the collections of things and add unique and quirky twists to a space that is entirely too angular. In the good ol’ days I would have made everything symmetrical, everything would have been lined up nicely and fit into a stackable space. I am so over my symmetrical style, my angular approach, my rectangles and squares…
It is time to add fun shapes and rounded corners. It is time to make the space feel cozy and yet sophisticated… How does one approach style in a fitting manner for a feminine 30 year old and an on the go one year old? How does one ensure the room is classy with a touch of flare as well as safe and accessible for a kiddo? This is the latest and greatest challenge I am approaching and I look forward to succeeding.
I have a massive blue wall that stands 16 feet tall and is taller than the room is wide. I have an oversized leather chair and an old worn drab micro fiber couch. The entertainment center is made of cork, covered with laminate and is chunky for such a unique space… First, the entertainment center will be removed… Next the drab couch will be donated and replaced. The leather chair will be cleaned up and moved to a new corner of the room. And the redecorating will begin. I envision a lovely rounded couch with quirky appeal, a corner TV unit, slanted book shelves with a center desk and a cozy round shag rug. Storage to hold toys and office supplies. And of course photos, art and decor to make the room feel lived in and worn while remaining clean and cozy.
Well… these are al dreams and ideas until I get started… Off to clean and start emptying the room…
