Daytime Television

November 8, 2011

Well, it will never be the same now that the soaps are gone. We all have memories of our younger years; days home from school, summer break, winter break… The soaps were on. Always.
And growing up in an all girl house, it was easy to get lost in the shows with my sister. Marlena was possessed by the devil, Erica Kane had a crazy daughter named Kendal, Sonny watched Lily die… Oh how our lives included these story lines and these stars.

Now daytime television has changed, the soaps are not quite as popular and the time slots have been filled. Well, one time slot in particular was filled with a show I happen to adore. I respectfully disagree with my dear friend TwoPretzels. I do see her point and since reading her post pertaining to the show I do acknowledge that what she observed was true.

BUT, and it is a big but… I LOVE it! I enjoy the friendly banter from the hosts. I fell in love with Clinton Kelly on the show What Not to Wear and I truly appreciate his opinions. He has shared details of his personal life, his very personal and vulnerable opinions and he brings a fun fresh perspective to cooking. Carla Hall brings enjoyable flare to Southern Comfort Food, she has energy and spunk too. Daphne Oz shares healthy tips on comfort foods and provides fun tidbits on some of the most non-descript ingredients. Mario Batali is a ray of joy; I love his ability to describe food and sweet, playful and completely knowledgable way he approaches cooking… I want to be a sponge and absorb his knowledge. Michael Symon… The guy is cool; he loves meat just about as much as I do, he has a passion for his family and he cooks like an Iron Chef… What can I say, the combo of all of them makes me smile.

Plus, I am learning a lot about food, food preparation, recipes, fun family cooking tips & watching the show confirms that I have a passion for cooking.
