It’s that time again, the time when my wardrobe feels as if it doesn’t quite fit. My closet is full of clothes, clothes that I am surely blessed to have. Cotton and silks. Stripes, solids and prints. Flowy and form fitting. Dresses, skirts, shorts and jeans. Shoes a plenty; wedges, heels, runners, chucks and flips galore. There are even accessories now too. Fancy little baubles; bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces and watches. But, it’s that time when seasons change or rather it gets scorchingly hot here. It’s that time when our summer vacation is planned. And it’s that time when a little part of me, deep down inside, just wants a fresh wardrobe, a clean start, new things.
It all started this morning while, post surgery resting, I started window shopping shoes. Steve Madden is a lovely go to. A place where I pit stop often and day dream over shoes. There is a sexy pair of heels, buckled across the foot completely. There is the simple black wedge that would compliment plenty of outfit choices. There was the black heels that would add flare to a cute summer dress. There were the simple flip flops that were just a tinge more fancy than my trusty Old Navy pair. I was in shoe heaven and working to control my online shopping spree desire.
After I found all the lovely shoes that would make my feet happy, I moved over to BCBG Max Azria. There I explored dresses; short and long, intended for day and night, fancy and flirty. And again I entered online window shopping heaven. There were a couple dresses that caught my eye in particular. A beautiful silk cocktail dress covered in beading, the color “vanilla”, perfect for a beach date night. There was a corral maxi dress, color blocked and perfect (yes, I am still on the hunt for the perfect maxi dress), with an incredible gathered racer back back. And again, the desire to indulge in a lovely online shopping spree needed to be controlled.
I love clothes. And I love adding new pieces to my wardrobe, I struggle with not creating a fresh new wardrobe in one fell swoop. I tend to rely on the tried and true. I tend to fall back into ways in which cotton tanks are layered and capri jeans are paired with boyfriend t shirts. I fit my style well, I wear my style well. It suits me and I easily pull it together. I want to become more adventurous. I want more day to day pieces. I want more pieces that can transition from day to evening. I am inspired by friends, I am inspired by peers, I am inspired by other mommy bloggers…
I like to shop for occasions too. I like to prepare for travels and pack outfits for desired moments. The perfect sweater and shorts combination for a beach sunset. The perfect jeans and tank combination for a day sailing. The perfect dress and wedges combination for a dinner date. The perfect hat, shorts and tank combination for a day exploring. I shop in that manner too, I shop for moments in time, sometimes with no moments planned.
I love clothes. Simple as that.
