Have you ever fallen off the grid in taking care of yourself? Taking care of your style? Making sure the way you present yourself is really the way you would like the world to see you?
Have you ever said you just don’t have time? Stores are too overwhelming? You can never find what you like in your style or size? Or do you just hate the hubbub of department stores? Ever feel overwhelmed by the fast pace, the mass of people, the banter of retail merchandisers?
If you’re anything like me, you’ve felt all of those feelings at some time or another.
Enter … Trunk Club.
[for men] [for women]
This service is now available for both men and women alike.
It’s simple. Sign up. Meet a stylist (Colette Conway). Provide input on you (size, style and preferences). Download the app. Review the trunk your stylist will be sending you on said app before it ships. Receive said trunk and put on a fashion show in your own home, with your own accessories and other essential pieces in your wardrobe. Within the app select “Keep” or “Return” and provide feedback. Hang that which you love in your closet. Repack your trunk with all that you will be returning, if anything at all. Schedule pick-up and place your trunk on the front door step.
It’s just that easy.
There are no minimum purchases. There are no fees. You do not pay for delivery or return shipping. You get to play with the clothes, at your house, for 10 full days. And you only pay for what you purchase.
You guys. This is a NO BRAINER. All of the clothes sent to you is curated by your personal stylist accessing articles of clothing from Nordstrom, based on your completed style survey and over the course of time, on your purchasing habits. Once a month a pretty brown box, I mean trunk, but really it is a box, is delivered to your door step. Keep what you want, send back what you don’t.
I love Trunk Club for a few simple reasons:
- I have been introduced to brands and styles I would have otherwise ignored and I haven’t had to dig through a department store to do so.
- I have harnessed my non-existent style and realized I actually have a style, it’s called simple, classic and neutral.
- I have improved my wardrobe without having to leave my home and without sacrificing time on that which matters most, my family.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Chicago Trunk Club offices a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you… I was in awe by the entire production. A corporate building, non-descript and not standing out. I walked into a teeny tiny first floor lobby with a storage company taking up the entire space except for the elevator. I entered the elevator and pressed the number 7. To the seventh floor I traveled (yep, I even took an elevator selfie). My excitement was bubbling over. Stepping off the elevator on the seventh floor was like entering Santa’s workshop for adults. Industrial and beautifully designed with décor, I felt like I had walked into a speakeasy, a secret club, a hidden gem. Colette, my stylist met me and took me to the women’s floor. Floor five. There we picked a cozy corner, sat on plush furniture, chatted about everything but clothes and style. After a while she rolled a garment rack towards me filled with clothes upon clothes. I spent the next hour feeling very much like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Simply being pampered, trying on piece after piece, look after look and styling and re-styling the items I loved most. I walked out of my adventure with three staple pieces. A stunning pair of black Prada heels, a sophisticated Theory dress that looked rather smart, and a Madewell flannel.
Ladies and gents, whether your experience is in-home or at a Trunk Club location, its time you try this out for yourself. I promise you will feel like royalty and your closet will thank you.
