My little baby turned 7 weeks yesterday. She is growing like a little weed, eats like her mama and sleeps/naps a lot, however is more awake and much more active these days. It’s a wonderful life!
Now, our latest goal… Working towards sleeping more than 8hours a night. We are on the cusp of 8hours… Sometimes sleeping 6, sometimes 7 or 7.5 and making it 8 if I count it to the minutes. We are so close and I would LOVE if we could get her to 10 hours in the near future. So, I have been pondering how to get her there. And I think we have done everything we can and I think I know where the issue may lie.
To lay it out… the current routine. Little miss Avery goes through her day, eating roughly 5ounces every 4 hours. Sometimes my little hungry hippo wants more and in those instances she may eat roughly 7 ounces during her feeding (I did mention she is an eater like her mama). She naps throughout the day when she feels like it (this is where I believe the issue lies). And then our night routine begins at 8:40pm. I prepare the bedroom for lotion time and jammies, dim the lights and turn on our iPod mix. She is in the bath by 9pm and out in 10 minutes or so. She loves the bath and relaxes into the warm sudsy water. We head to the bedroom for lotion, jammies, bottle and bed. She is usually asleep by 9:30pm, no later than 10pm.
So the issue… I would love her to sleep until 6:30-7am. This would help mommy when she gets back to work in a week and half. I could be getting ready while she is still dreaming away and feed her her morning bottle before her day of care starts. I would love our last bonding session to be hugging and chatting and of course, over food.
I think to meet the more sleep at night goal, means less sleep during the day. My latest goal would be to get her on a nap routine and get her to sleep less. I am not sure how to modify her little routine to promote this. Moms out there…. Any ideas???
