Breakfast for dinner… There ain’t nothing wrong with that!
A couple evenings ago we enjoyed breakfast for dinner. It was magical. It was delicious. It was and is one of my favorite dinner options. Who agrees?
There are some days where you just need to indulge in the comfort of breakfast for dinner. There are some days where the butter flavor of eggs with a dash of salt and pepper is soothing. There are some days where the crisp of hash-browns is melt in your mouth delicious. There are some days when enjoying crispy bacon is all that is needed to end a day right. There are some days where the fluff of pancakes paired with melted butter and a dip of sweet syrup hugs your insides just right. There are just some days when breakfast for dinner just makes sense.
The other night, it was that kind of night. It was the kind of night when something so simple as breakfast was an adventure for all and hit just the right spot. We ventured to our local iHop with Princess Avery, bid sissies and us grown ups piled into the car. We listened to the giggle of littles in the back seats and enjoyed the fun of Avery’s dress-up princess dress as her outfit (As a total side note, I love that the Doodle wants to wear her dress up clothes out and about. Something I always wanted her to do, not certain why, but boy is it cute…). When we arrived we were one of three tables and our server was on his third day. We noodled over the menu and all made our decisions. After waiting, what felt like far too long, plates and plates of delicious breakfast opitions were delivered to our table. We laughed, we ate, we shared bites of breakfast goodness and we all went home with happy bellies and please with our server Brandon. There may even have been a few crushes from our big littles.
I don’t know what it is about breakfast in general. I don’t know what it is about breakfast for dinner either. But, I think it may be the ability to eat sweet and savory with every bite. The ability to enjoy a meal that usually indicates a fresh start, even at the close of an evening. It may be the mass amounts of food one is given during a breakfast meal. It may be the unlimited options; eggs, omelet’s, pancakes, crepes, waffles, yogurt, bacon, sausage, ham, hashbrowns… The combinations are limitless. The opportunity to treat your food craving and fill your belly full of yummy. There is just something about breakfast and I love it.
