Sometimes in life, life throws curve balls. Sometimes life hands you changes, changes that cause frustration and fear and confusion and curiosity. Sometimes life just isn’t fair. And sometimes life is pushing you in an uncomfortable direction, one you were not prepared to choose or ready to follow. Sometimes life happens. And when life happens, well, all I can do is remember it is the little things that matter most.
It is the sound of my daughter giggling. It is the sight of a perfect morning sky. It is driving down a beautifully tree lined street. It is the first sip of coffee in the morning. It is the extra long hot shower at the end of the day. It is the sound of your favorite voice. It is the text that sends a message that brightens your day. It is your favorite song playing on the radio. It is time with family. It is lunch with a friend. It is the extra ten minutes of sleep on a weekday morning. It is the extra long jog as the sun sets. It is the bouquet of flowers sent just because. It is the excitement and joy of planning for a future with the person you love most. It is the escape into daydream. It is shopping for the perfect dress. It is indulging in a cupcake. It is finding magic in the ordinary. It is escaping on a weekend vacation. It is laughing so hard you cry. It is making memories with those you hold dearest. It is watching your child dance. It is hearing your child sing. It is eating a blueberry muffin. It is knowing you are enough. It is learning something new. It is indulging in your comforts (friends episodes, cinnamon rolls, s’mores). It is knowing that things always work out the way they should.
This journey I am on, this journey you are on… it will present hurdles and challenges. There will be good days and bad days. There will be magic and chaos. There will be excitement and sorrow. But, this life… it is good. And the reason it is oh so good is due to the people we are blessed to share this life with.
My people. They are magical and loving and kind and intelligent and brave and wonderful. My people are my rocks and my champions. And when life throws me a challenge it is them who I turn to and them who get me throw. And this curve ball is nothing more than refocusing if you will. But, it is in these moments that I find the best in me and the best in my people.
And so this life adventure continues. Challenges, chaos, happiness, love and all…
